Some preparations for our year long motor home tour of Europe.

This is all about our year long meander around Europe in our motor home. It is a way of passing on what is happening, where we are and thoughts on what we have seen or done. Please comment as it is, firstly, nice to know this stuff is being read, and also tell me if there are other things you would like to hear about.

we are also busy getting my 22 year old son to move out, he has worker out that is going to cost a lot more than living with MUM.
The MOT issue will be a problem for us also and I intend to get it done just before we depart.
Did you know that the tax disc is being phased out as from October and they want you to pay monthly by direct debit!!!! happy days.

    1. Hi Thank you for your comment. The biggest issue to sort out for us was the gas problem with every country having their own style cylinders. Friends of ours spent a fortune paying deposits in each country as they emptied a cylinder only having to discard the empty one each time. Of course when they returned home it cost them two more deposits for replacement Calorgas cylinders.

I found a company called Safefill and bought every thing I needed to fit two refillable cylinders with the refill nozzle at the back of our motor home and fitted it myself without problems. I paid £340 for everything I needed including the different refill adapters for all the countries we are to visit. Our local dealer had quoted £1000 for supply and fit. When I went to fill up the gas at the local service station I filled both 6 kg cylinders for £17.

Best of luck on your preparations

  2. Hi jack,
i have over come the gas problems by installing a re-fill able 13 Kg cylinder ,plus a standard 6kg one, I used a company called Gas-it cost me £170.00 for the kit and adapters for all European countries and fitted it my self.
I am looking forward to getting the LPG filled up in Spain were it is very cheap, I recon that 8 fill-ups would get my investment back..
I will be tracking your progress……………not long now.
    Cheers,
    Vaughan

  3. Unfortunately the large cylinder you have would not fit in our gas cupboard. So I havefitted 2 × 6kilo cylinders. So far, 3rd day we have loved Bayeux and now we are in St Loe on the way to Blanchard for our next stop. This relaxation is such hard work. lol
