This cartoon really sums up how we both feel. This is the second Christmas eve that we have spent in a motorhome in a foreign country preparing for Christmas day. Both of us still pinch ourselves occasionally to remind us just how lucky we are to have had the opportunity to sample and enjoy this fantastic way of life. Last year we were in Spain and enjoyed our Christmas during our stopover at El Campello.
This year we are in the Algarve, in Portugal and we are parked on the Algarve Motorhome Park at Falesia half way between Albufeira and Quarteria. Our travel companions Tom and Jo are parked on the next pitch to ours and we are definitely wearing a path between our two vans. Tomorrow when we are up and ready we will breakfast together and then we will make our way to the beach. We are trying to persuade Elaine to sacrifice her Christmas day swim so she can be our photographer so I went with her to the beach today so she could have a Christmas Eve paddle.
We have a few snow scene transfers on our windows and our festive tree is a cutting from a fir tree with a short length of battery powered lights and I have put our spare oxo cubes around the bowl and from a distance they look like little presents. Tomorrow after our session on the beach we will barbecue the four juicy steaks we bought yesterday and although we all know it is traditional…….there will not be a sprout anywhere near our plates. Whilst we will be enjoying our day in the sun we will definitely thinking of our families back home.
So, please enjoy your Christmas, however you spend it and we will raising a glass to everyone we know and to all of you that honour me by reading my blog about our travels.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all and maybe we should all wish for a halt in the troubles that are going on all over the world.
